FluviusH2-Incubated Project Wins Third Place at the China International College Students Innovation Competition 2025

The project Enzyme Boost — A World-Leading Enzyme Catalyst for Water Electrolysis, incubated by FluviusH2, won third place in the championship round of the China International College Students Innovation Competition 2025.
The project advanced through a field of 6.19 million entries and 24.43 million participants before reaching the final group of six domestic and international teams.
About the project
Built on years of research at the University of Oxford and the University of Leicester, the project uses a semi-synthetic assembly strategy. Natural enzyme protein scaffolds are combined with laboratory-synthesised non-natural metal cofactors to create hybrid enzymes and efficient electron-transfer chains.
This platform lays foundations for industrial enzyme applications and offers a new route to reduce the energy and cost of green hydrogen production.
About the competition
The 2025 competition was jointly organised by China's Ministry of Education and other national bodies with the Henan Provincial People's Government, and hosted by Zhengzhou University and the Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government.
