Exploring New Energy Technologies and Industry Development


On 8 September, the Co-Development & Investment Conference (CDIC 2026) entered its second day. FluviusH2 took part in a discussion on new energy technologies and industry development at Hong Kong Science Park, exchanging insights with technology companies and industry guests working in green hydrogen, computing–power coordination, flow batteries and sodium-ion batteries. Together, participants explored commercialisation pathways and opportunities for the development of new energy technologies.

GREEN HYDROGEN

Lowering Green Hydrogen Costs and Sharing the Path to Commercialisation

During the panel discussion, Dr. Zehui Duan, Founder and CEO of FluviusH2, shared insights into technological approaches to green hydrogen and their potential applications.

Cost remains a challenge for the large-scale adoption of green hydrogen. FluviusH2 uses enzyme catalysis to replace conventional precious-metal catalysts, aiming to improve the efficiency of bidirectional conversion between electricity and hydrogen while reducing catalyst costs. The company is also exploring on-site, on-demand hydrogen production for small chemical enterprises.

Advancing Technology Alongside Real-World Applications

FluviusH2 also discussed hydrogen's potential for long-duration energy storage across multiple days and seasons, and explored how hydrogen could work alongside other energy storage technologies.

COLLABORATION

Combining Technologies to Build a New Energy System

The discussion also covered computing–power coordination, sulphur-based flow batteries and sodium-ion batteries. Participants noted that no single technology can address every application within a future energy system. The coordinated development of green hydrogen, flow batteries, sodium-ion batteries and computing–power optimisation will therefore be an important direction in building new energy systems.

HONG KONG

Leveraging Hong Kong to Bring Green Hydrogen Technology to Industry

In the discussion on business development and commercialisation, FluviusH2 shared how Hong Kong's innovation ecosystem supports the company's growth. Shared synthetic biology and chemistry R&D equipment at Hong Kong Science Park helps reduce the cost of setting up an early-stage laboratory. Hong Kong's international research and business environment also creates favourable conditions for connecting companies with global talent and industry resources.

Looking ahead, FluviusH2 will continue advancing green hydrogen production R&D and commercialisation validation. The company will also actively explore how green hydrogen can work alongside energy storage and other energy technologies to bring more efficient, economical and safer green hydrogen solutions into practical use.
